This contest is the highlight of the year within FOC, and the only event in the calendar that is open only to club members. My strategy, however, is to work whomever calls and give a friendly report.
It’s also a great opportunity to cross paths with friends and have a quick catch-up with them, while also having the added thrill of being a fast paced event. For me, the QSOs with friends is the highlight.
As usual I was using my IC-7610, 100W and the attic dipoles. This puts me in the Low Restricted section, where I’m a little more competitive against similar stations. I’m not in it to win it though.
The biggest surprise was being called by Andy 5Z4VJ on 20m, who was on my noise floor, but we made it for a new band slot!
