I nearly forgot the IARU HF Contest this year, but a friend reminded me during an email conversation. I was thankful to be able to spend some time on the bands from home. As usual running 100W from my IC-7610.
I decided to run non-assisted in the Single Op All Band CW category. SSB contesting doesn’t appeal to me any longer, but I do enjoy running CW QSOs. To use the American term I had 7.5 hours Butt In Chair (BIC) time and eventually stopped at 300q due to tiredness.
The timing of this contest is 0700-0700 EDT, and so my operating was entirely on Saturday. There was no way I would be able to get up again before 0700 on Sunday morning! Not so much a morning person…
I was pretty happy with the result, and the great thing about IARU is that it’s an everyone works everyone contest. I even made it into Europe too for the first time in a few months.
