During 2012 London hosted the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Ofcom authorised the use of a special prefix character O throughout the period to celebrate this. In total 925 QSOs were made, mostly CW, and all QSOs were sent a special QSL card. Logs are also on Clublog and LoTW.

GB0KLM – Killhope Lead Mine
While I was an active member of the Bishop Auckland Radio Amateurs Club we were active annually for the Mills On The Air weekend from the Killhope Lead Mine at the top end of Weardale. We operated from the building next to the water mill at the museum.
GB0POW – Harperley POW Camp
This event was run at a local Prisoner of War camp at Harperley, near Crook, in County Durham. The weekend saw a new military vehicle show as well as various exhibits and our special event station.
MQ0PCB – The Golden Jubilee
In 2002, to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Ofcom permitted use of a special prefix character, Q. For all QSOs made in 2002 the following QSL card was printed and sent out via the bureau.
GB2RL – Roker Lighthouse
While I was an active member of the Bishop Auckland Radio Amateurs Club we were active annually for the Lighthouses On The Air weekend from the Roker Lighthouse in Sunderland. We operated from the Volunteer Life Brigade building, which had sight of the lighthouse itself.
